Sheridan Marsh

Sheridan (they/them) received their B.A in Classics, magna cum laude, from Harvard University and their M.St. in Classical Archaeology from the University of Oxford. At Penn, they are a Presidential Ph.D. Fellow. They have worked in several museums, including the Getty Villa as an intern in the Antiquities Department and most recently the Metropolitan Museum of Art as the Mary Jaharis Intern in Greek and Roman Art. 

Their research interests lie in the rich visual and material culture of Greece and Asia Minor in the Roman Period, specifically in the 1st-3rd centuries CE. They wrote their undergraduate thesis on the cult of Antinous in those regions and its place in the diverse social and cultural lives of his worshippers.They are broadly interested in the intersections of visual and social culture, as well as social-anthropological approaches to material culture. They are also interested in the reception of ancient Greece and Rome in popular culture and video games.
